Orb Faithful,
With preseason games having started, and the regular season just around the corner, it is time that we wrap up our preseason fantasy analysis. Ending with tight ends, we have gathered data to determine who is being over/undervalued. And while experts are not setting big expectations for this position group, we must still break down our tight-end analysis. That said, any insight at all can be helpful in winning your league, even if this simply means drafting Dalton Kincaid over Dalton Schultz. Nevertheless, let's get this wrapped up and guide you to victory!
Beginning with the obvious, the two tight ends primed for great seasons are Travis Kelce and Sam Laporta, both of whom are expected to score the most fantasy points for tight ends. Personally, I believe that Laporta has a higher upside this season than Kelce, as he had an outstanding year last season and is only entering his second year in the league. Additionally, I fear that as Kelce gets older, he will soon start slowing down and being less productive. Not to say that Kelce won't be an impact player this year, rather I fear that his ADP is less favorable than Laporta's.
Two guys that I expect to exceed expectations this year are Jake Ferguson and Trey Mcbride, both of whom exceeded last year's expectations as well. While the Cowboys had a great year last year, so did Jake Ferguson who filled Dalton Schultz's shoes, and he ultimately established a great connection with Dak Prescott, making him an attractive fantasy pick in my eyes. Trey Mcbride also established a great connection with Kyler Murray this year, as he was a huge passing threat in the few games I got to see him play. Ultimately, I see both of these guys as suitable tight ends, as they will likely fall to you late in your draft while having lots of hidden upside.
While this goes without saying, you're probably better off picking anybody instead of Kyle Pitts, even if he is talented. With his history of underwhelming fantasy seasons, I see him as a risky pick and not someone I am willing to take a chance on again. Rather than selecting him, look for a late-round tight end, as I believe his ADP will disappoint yet again.
