Welcome to the Orb NBA

We are building on the good momentum around the page and are excited to announce that the Orb is starting its NBA coverage heading into the playoffs! This is the next step of our offseason goal to provide additional content by bringing on talented writers to help fill the void of the NFL offseason. After a great introduction to the world of golf by the Fairway Phantom in last week’s Masters preview, we now turn our attention to the NBA starting with the play-in tournament this week. To break down all the exciting news, storylines, and betting angles we are bringing on not one, but two NBA junkies to the Orb. After talking with each of them, it became immediately clear to Andy and I that they were two sides of the same NBA coin and together would create cohesive basketball coverage, each viewing the game from a different standpoint. Here is what you can expect from both new members:

Mickey Swish is joining the team with a background in basketball writing from a previous sports blog he used to run. Mickey will be offering longer-form, in-depth analysis breaking down a variety of hoops content including key matchups and miss-matches to look out for across various playoff series. He truly loves the X’s and O’s and we think anyone looking for more purposeful NBA analysis is going to love his work. Mickey is not much of a sports better so he will intentionally be staying away from gambling lines, but will talk about who he thinks will win certain matchups. This brings up the other half of the new members. Please join in also welcoming The NBA Vibe Navigator to the team. Unlike Mickey, he is a seasoned sports-better who is equally obsessed with the NBA and watches from a gambling point of view. He wants to challenge himself in these playoffs to see how well he can do against the sportsbooks and is bringing us along for the ride. As his name would suggest, the Vibe Navigator will proudly tell you that, unlike the Orb’s NFL picks, his are NOT from a predictive model and rather come from how he feels about the games.
