No Orb Picks for Week 18

Orb Faithful,

I’m really sorry but I’m not able to run our models for week 18. I came down with some combination of the flu and strep throat and haven’t been able to get out of bed since Wednesday. I tried desperately to collect our data and run our models but just writing this is taking all the brain power I have right now. Week 18 picks would not have counted anyway as most teams are resting their starters and getting ready for either the playoffs or the draft. Right now we don’t have a way of handling this in our models so the picks would have seemed wonky anyway. Any top seed that is resting their starters (think Ravens, 49ers, etc.) would be weighed as if they were playing everyone and our models would almost definitely take them plus the points. So in some ways this is the perfect week to miss and I am going to rest up and have our models ready to go for week 1 of the playoffs. I will also have the full season recap with tons of exciting data from how our project performed this regular season. Thank you for understanding and for an awesome regular season, let’s keep our momentum going into the playoffs!

Since I’m calling in sick this week anyway, let’s get crazy and I am going to run down the list of every game and I’ll predict what I think is going to happen. I cannot stress enough that these are not our models picks, but rather my fever brains immediate reaction. We are about to find out why we stick to the models and why this page isn’t Orb Wizard’s personal picks. Without further ado, here are my fever brain picks for every game in week 18:

• Texans -1.5

• Saints -3

• Browns +7.5

• Titans +3.5

• Buccaneers -4.5

• Jets +1.5 (please lose this game @patriots)

• Lions -3.5

• Bears +3

• Commanders +13.5

• Cardinals +3

• Rams +4

• Raiders -3

• Chiefs +3.5

• Bills -2.5

This feels like an Orb 1.0 blog which thankfully we have moved away from. Thank you for understanding and I can’t wait to break down our season performance from week 2-17. Until then, I’m going back to bed.
