Orb Faithful,
Welcome back to your favorite (somewhat) weekly segment—Buy or Sell. By now, we all know the drill: What did we like this week? What didn’t we like? And what should we be buying or selling stock in? It can be anything!
First, let’s dive into the New York Giants' front office disaster—specifically, their baffling decision to trade Saquon Barkley to the Philadelphia Eagles. The obvious “buy” here is Barkley and the Eagles' offensive line. But before I praise the Eagles, I have to call out the Giants—how they let a talent like Barkley walk is beyond me. Not only did they lose one of the league’s best running backs, but they’re also stuck paying an underperforming Daniel Jones nearly $50 million a year (old news, but still hard to swallow).
Barkley made sure the Giants felt the pain of that decision, turning his return into a textbook revenge game. He racked up 176 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 carries, with an astounding 147 of those yards coming before contact—thanks to the Eagles’ offensive line. The O-line deserves a mini “buy” too, clearly showing they’re fully invested in Barkley being their guy and making a statement in his homecoming.
BUY your stock in Saquon Barkley.
Now for the "sell of the week": Davante Adams, Aaron Rodgers, and the New York Jets. After talking over the phone with
, we both agreed we weren’t sold on this trade from the beginning. The Jets already had plenty of talent on offense, and adding Adams didn’t seem like the game-changing move that would take them to the next level. We saw that theory come to life in last night’s defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers.I’m hard-selling the Jets and the Rodgers-Adams connection. I don’t think they have enough time to rebuild their chemistry and make a serious playoff run this year. After their loss last night, they’ve fallen to 2-5 and are facing an uphill battle. Maybe in a year’s time, this offense will come together, but for now, I’m selling all my stock in this trade and the Jets as a whole.
To close out this week’s Buy or Sell segment, here’s a confession: I’ve been watching baseball. This October has completely changed my view of the MLB. I’ve never been this engaged with the game before. Sure, it’s playoff baseball, which is on a whole different level than the regular season—but still, I’m hooked. Watching these teams and series unfold has been incredible.
With a blockbuster World Series between the LA Dodgers and the NY Yankees looming, I’m more invested in baseball than I’ve been in a decade. The atmosphere is electric, and the fan reactions across the city have been a joy to watch. Even though Yankees fans are an acquired taste, I couldn’t help but smile as they clinched Game 6 against the Guardians, thanks to a walk-off from Juan Soto. Pay that man his money!
