If testing is ever going ‘too well’ and you need to bring your results back down to earth, simply start posting them! That’s what happened Thursday as the first external live picks from our beta test went a whopping 1-4 against the spread after a long period of successful internal live testing. This was the main slate of games after the All-Star break, so there was an abnormal aspect to rest and time off, but I also think the performance can be chalked up to the fact that there will be losing days throughout our testing and we happened to start with one of them. Here is how each pick went from day 1:
Spreads:
Memphis -2.5 ❌
Atlanta +1.0 ❌
Clippers -2.5 ❌
Charlotte +16.5 ✅
Portland +3.5 ❌

Not an ideal start! But those of you who followed during the NFL season might remember the football model also started the year our 1-4 before fighting its way back to hitting 55.6% ATS by the end of the season. Let’s hope our NBA beta test can do something similar but again I won’t be too hard on models in testing when it comes to accuracy. Here is what the models predict will happen tonight, Tuesday, February 25th:
Spreads:
Toronto +11.0
Cleveland -7.5
Milwaukee +3.5
Phoenix +7.5
Los Angeles (Lakers) -9.0
