Orb Faithful,
It’s your boy, Andy Diamonds, coming to you live from Boston, MA. What a bizarre Week 1 of the NFL season! After the Packers and Eagles showdown in Brazil, things were looking rough for the Orb. We were staring down the barrel of a 0-4 start ATS, but the witching hours came through in clutch, and we’re heading into tonight with a small plus unit cushion. If you're curious about who the Orb’s eyeing in tonight’s star-studded matchup, click here!
Yesterday was the first time in a while that I was glued to my couch for any reason (and I loved it), locked into football all afternoon. The opening slate of games? Weird. Sam Darnold looking like the MAN in Minnesota, the Bengals getting silenced at home by the Patriots, and of course, Tyreek Hill pulling a Scottie and getting detained just a block from Hard Rock Stadium hours before kickoff. Regardless it was a great day to get back into the mindset of watching games, writing down headlines, and being excited to start blogging again.
That leads us into tonights MNF clash between the New York Jets and the San Francisco 49ers. Our second “first look” at an Aaron Rodgers lead Jets team. After the off season drama of Aaron not making it into work - the bright lights will be shining hard on the hall of fame quarterback. How quickly can he get his young weapons Garret Wilson and Breece Hall into the game? Or did he and the whole team take a major step backwards missing those off season reps while Aaron was aboard? On the other side of the football we have a Brock Purdy lead Niners team that has to be feeling some sort of way coming off their loss in the Super Bowl to the Chiefs. Trent Williams and Brandon Aiyuk will be on display tonight after settling their heavily broadcasted contract negotiations; and ofcourse the return of Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and a “questionable” Christian McCaffrey.
Heres who I like tonight via Player Props:
I know that McCaffrey is listed as questionable as of right now, but his fantasy football projections are in the 20s. ESPN is also reporting that: “McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) remains listed as questionable, but he expects to play Monday against the Jets and handle something close to a normal workload, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.” He should be in the clear + he should find the endzone. Book it.
Heres to a great MNF and the end of a wonky week 1!
